Okay, next time, before you sell anything, LET US KNOW.

I was about to say something about how this is the nice thing about being a computer dweeb, because your instruments don't even last longer than about 5 years at the upper end, and then realized I'm still hanging on to my yamaha mu5 tone generator.

TOMBOT (TOMBOT), Tuesday, 25 July 2006 12:01 (nineteen years ago)

eh, could be alot worse. could have sold the 50s goldtop for a yamaha sg copy. or put a floyd rose in your pre-cbs strat. i sold the 68 mustang bass for not much and haven't looked back.

I had a Rogers drumkit from 1973, that I got for $300 in about 1987. It had a Dynasonic snare that I rather liked.

Then in 1993 I needed to move, and had no car and no space (or noise abatement) for drums. I sold the whole kit, with cymbals and hardware and all, in a pawnshop for something embarrassingly like $100. Nowadays, the snare alone would be worth at least that much.

But mostly I just miss the sound, which was really very supple and full for a metal snare.

I could list a long list of guitars.
And list longer listings of ones I disliked.

One that sticks in my mind(because I could use the sound about now) is an Epiphone Firebird VII. It played decently, the pickups worked(microphonic, though). Same story.
Really needed money.
I also kinda miss the Jackson FB-2 and my Christmas RG.

many sucky sucky ones, too.
The best one was an Eko electric hollow 12. The neck joint was broken, but I could fix it nowadays.
I smashed it in an experimental recording. two half stacks and at least one combo was involved. LOUD.

I would kill a person for a Rogers drumkit. With my hands.

I didn't sell my first guitar (a fucking sweeeet [but very heavy] 70something Hamer Special), but instead gave it to a buddy of mine who was going to use it as his test subject for a mercury swith/dual output experiment.

The idea was that he would have two outputs and a mercury switch, by means of which you could change your output from 1 - 1&2 - 2 by simply holding it with the neck at different angles. As far as I know, he may have succeeded and it may totally rock. I guess I should try to get a hold of him.

I traded a 9 string Framus (along with a bass and an acoustic guitar)for a Ric 12 string. I really miss that guitar. Tone wasn't that great, playability kind of sucked... but damn, I really miss that guitar. I saw it a year later in a used shop with a "sold" sign on it. Nearly brought a tear to my eye.

Only ever sold two basses -- a fretless Music Man StingrayV and a Guild Ashboury -- and although I'd kind of like to get another fretless some day, I don't miss either of those basses. Could have gotten more for the Guild, though...

two years pass...

2005. I sold an Epiphone Archtop Dot because all my money was going towards rent, weed & cough syrup. Guitar Center gave me all of $100 for the guitar and the hard shell case.

2007. I come home on my birthday to find my Epiphone Archtop Dot laying on my bed. My girlfriend and a small group of friends had found the guitar and bought it back as a gift. Best shit ever.

i dig those V4 heads. i was sorta selfishly glad when our bass players SVT head went out and he had to go back to his V4, although i know he wasn't. he's had to fix his SVT about 5 times now

I wish I'd never sold the Bentley Rhythm Ace. Even if I did find all the samples on my backup drive, it's still not quite the same.
