Audio Routing on Laptop

Hola again.

I'm trying to record a performace (either on ACID or Soundforge) via the line in on my laptop while monitoring a loop i've already made on ACID. Problem is I can't get either program to record just the sound from the line in and not the loop playing in ACID as well.

I know there is some setting I'll have to change in soundcard or one of the programs but I can't remember what it is...

Anyone?

on my pooter, if you go to volume control > properties > choose to adjust volume for recording and select line in instead of wave out mix that does the trick. perhaps something like that?

That indeed does the trick - follow your directions, then once you've done that a window with three volume sliders appears. turn 'stereo mix' to zero and problem is eliminated.
