i'm about to start putting together some digital reverb software, and i was hoping you all might have some helpful advice or anecdotes. i plan on implementing a very basic, unrealistic reverb with no delay time and a steady decay as well as the capability to handle recorded impulse responses from cool places (v.v. excited about my trip to mammoth cave natl park). i'm programming it in PD on OS X, fwiw.
about those impluse responses, any idea what mic i should use? i plan on using handclaps or bursts of pink noise (where i can bring an amplifier). is the quoted text below relevant? favorite diaphragm condenser mics?
I'd just use a sample too, but if I were going to record real handclaps, the 57 isn't the mic I'd pick... Probably a small diaphragm condenser would get better results.-- martin m. (mushrus...), November 4th, 2005. (mushrush)
okay, thanks in advance for anything. i'll link to the software when it's usable (don't hold your breath ;).
