hey all. I've got this old lap steel and matching amp - practically identical to what's on this page:

except in a little worse condition. does anyone know how much this thing is really worth? 1200 australian seems a bit much. I got mine for 300 american and thought i might have gotten ripped off...

That guy is fucking crazy. Current vintage blue book value is $400-$550, so you did just fine.

heh, i guess i havent paid attention to those things ever since i was in love with ibanez guitars back when i was 15. good to know. it's funny, the thing has absolutely no brand name on it anywhere...i'da thought Kay wouldve. thanks john.

Oh and on the brand name thing, I'd chalk it up to two things.

1. One of the 8 bagazillion store sold unbranded Kay products (hardware store X, department store Y).
2. Someone removing the name badge because Kay wasn't "cool" enough.
