how does alan rankin DO IT on 'club country'?

it sounds like an octave pedal, but UP instead of down? are devices like this made? if you search youtube for 'associates club country' you can find their TotP performance, when rankin seemingly duplicates the sound with just an un capoed electric guitar, but it's all so perfect i wonder if it's dubbed??????
