i can definitely tell when the shitty ones break. thats about it. i like the chunkiness of the mogami connectors though. george l's seem like the absolute flimsiest pieces of shit.

Shitty ones are noisier and quetyer/duller.
Why? Because they're made like shit, from shit, so they have worthless shielding, bad connections, and high capacitance/resistance ratings.

Anything above $10 for 10" should be fine(unless it's Monster, in which case it'll ruin your jacks and fail in a month).
