Cheap studio headphones

Can anyone recommend some reasonably inexpensive headphones that have mad isolation? Specifically for recording drum tracks and not having the click bleed through.

Well, no specific suggestions as of yet, but the two main components would be large cuff size (as in full cup coverage of ear) and closed back. The best I've used are a pair of old Koss, but the new wave of "I want my phones to weigh nothing and be as tiny as possible" makes this sort of hard to find new for cheap, I'm afraid.

Guess I'll just poke around Best Buy.

Last time I made the mistake of doing the "one earphone off" thing and there some definite bleed issues.

Actually, I'd take a little more time and hunt around used music shops/pawn shops, because the Best Buy stuff is going to all be exactly the sort of thing I'm talking about.

I'm also no sure how many of the best buy ones will say whether they are closed or open back, which is KEY.

I think so, although the ones I used had independent volume faders on each earpiece.

Before I destroyed 'em, my Senn 280s had the best isolation of any cans I've tried. Well, they still have isolation, but no sound you'd wanna hear.

If it's just click you need, why not get a $2 pair of earbuds and cut one off? Tape it to yr head if it falls out, too. >/drummer<

Actually, re-reading your question, that's a pretty good point.

Wouldn't bleed be a problem with earbuds though?

Earbuds operate at a much lower volume than headphones, since they're a lot closer to the eardrum. I'd wager that earbuds would have less bleed than most commercial cans. And besides, $2? It's not breakin' the bank if it dinna work.

I'll give it a shot, thx.
