They're a bit dingy. Someone else was taking pics, perhaps they'll turn out better, if I get to see them.

yours = ?

Oh, that's me on the right, w/the pink guitar. You've probably worked out that the venue was rather dark.

Pashmina (Pashmina), Thursday, 6 October 2005 10:09 (nineteen years ago)

I am getting the Gear Horn just looking at the picture. Looks like the conrol deck of NASA circa 1973 is sitting next to you, Pash. Yum.

The funny-shaped wooden box is the wiard modular. We opened with the "saragossa" piece from the old ilx comp, which we ran on into an improv bit which was supposed to sound like outer-space transmissions or something, but the wiard got a bit out of control, and mad a noise somewhat like the one on wiard's own demo page:

http://www.wiard.com/samples/WogglebugDemo.mp3

(watch your volume before listening) it was incredibly loud and dominating. People there were kind of perplexed when we finished that bit!

I'm itching to do some more gigs like this.

Pashmina (Pashmina), Thursday, 6 October 2005 10:57 (nineteen years ago)

From 2 weeks ago = 3 gigs ago.

We're Fractured. Larp were good also. I'm playing keybds. I also have a nice shot of me wielding the Telecaster in heads down no-nonsense mindless boogie action during our cover of Shot By Both Sides. I'll try and find it and post.

You do "shot by both sides"? I'm impressed! I keep fancying having a go at "Burst", but lack of any vocal skills whatsoever is a problem.

No drums, Pashmina?

Damnit.

Jordan (Jordan), Thursday, 6 October 2005 14:48 (nineteen years ago)

We'd probably be the drummer's nightmare gig, Jordan. Anyone who drummed for us would probably be sitting around doing nothing 2/3 of the time.

We use on e of these:

Jesus n/a, get some stage presence!

Hurting (Hurting), Friday, 7 October 2005 03:30 (nineteen years ago)

This is from like 2 years ago, but we look fairly similar now, except with a drummer:

http://www.theminorthirds.com/concert-031106-tm3.jpg

This one is from over a year ago but has the drummer and is missing the accordionist, who is out of frame and is singing rather than playing accordion for this one. Also I am wearing the harmonica brace, which, in case you were worried, is a rare thing indeed:

In general, rock clubs are dark, and pictures don't come out very well at all.

**You do "shot by both sides"? I'm impressed! I keep fancying having a go at "Burst", but lack of any vocal skills whatsoever is a problem. **

SBBS is such fun to play. We do it with two guitars - it's more like the original single than the LP version. Me and our other, full-time, guitarist had a bit of a race to see who could work out McGeoch's middle solo first (you know, the bit where the whole song changes up a tone). I got it first, apart from the very first phrase, which I just couldn't get right. But just before the gig, he came up with a pretty much spot-on version and so gets to do it onstage!

You should do Burst - Devoto wasn't much of a singer!

I've already posted this on another thread, but I love it so much I'll post it again!

You guys need a table.

n/a (Nick A.), Friday, 7 October 2005 17:35 (nineteen years ago)

I use a laptop now and have a big shiny silver box for keeping everything in! Also, I use more than just a glorified tone generator

Jonothong Williamsmang (ex machina), Friday, 7 October 2005 17:39 (nineteen years ago)

But no table?

Jordan (Jordan), Friday, 7 October 2005 17:41 (nineteen years ago)

I tried to take a table from the hall to make a shrine to our idol of the Poo God, but my neighbor needs it.

Jonothong Williamsmang (ex machina), Friday, 7 October 2005 17:51 (nineteen years ago)

jon, does it say "friend" on your hand?

Roxymuzak, Mrs. Carbohydrate (roxymuzak), Friday, 7 October 2005 18:18 (nineteen years ago)

yes

Jonothong Williamsmang (ex machina), Friday, 7 October 2005 18:19 (nineteen years ago)

it says "bad" on Ian's

Kate, you're in Wilson Phillips?

(sorry)

Hurting (Hurting), Friday, 7 October 2005 20:19 (nineteen years ago)

I got to play guitar in the Bonniwell Music Machine for a tour last year. That is the great Sean Bonniwell on vocals and I am playing guitar behind him.

Tim Ellison (Tim Ellison), Saturday, 8 October 2005 04:37 (nineteen years ago)

A recent pic from Southpaw. This is my normal posture, pretty much.

joseph cotten (joseph cotten), Saturday, 8 October 2005 14:15 (nineteen years ago)

I like Southpaw.

What band are you in?

Hurting (Hurting), Saturday, 8 October 2005 19:47 (nineteen years ago)

Spielerfrau.

We're coming back to Southpaw on the 23rd (a weird Russian show). Great club, though.

My favorite feature (I already gushed about it somewhere on ILM) is the fully functional stage curtain that comes down after your set: you have the luxury of packing up your shit in relative peace, mystique intact.

joseph cotten (joseph cotten), Saturday, 8 October 2005 22:32 (nineteen years ago)

That was a weirdly rhyme-filled post, btw.

joseph cotten (joseph cotten), Saturday, 8 October 2005 22:35 (nineteen years ago)

That curtain thing is awesome.

Casuistry (Chris P), Sunday, 9 October 2005 02:44 (nineteen years ago)

wow, i wish every club had that.
