If the sanctions happened QUICKLY (ie a sudden blockade preventing all trade) with a clear ultimatim, they just might fold.
Things aren't ideal, but I don't see why I should send money into the countries I don't like. That money goes in, and doesn't leave. They don't really import alot of US goods in Vietnam.
What I'm proposing is what they're doing to us. Well, the inverse, kind of.An economic drain. China wants to drain money from us, take away our manufacturing base and other blue-collar work, and other things to motivate us into some kind of change or to weaken us for the invasion.
SO.I propose we do the same. It's your right to disagree.

Yeah, right. China holds over $340,000,000,000 in US T-bills. Put a regime-changing economic squeeze on China and they'll cash in and drive the dollar below the peso, not to mention the results that an embargo would have on the vast majority of US industries who traffic very, very heavily in Chinese goods. The only regime that'd be changed is the one in power in the US at the time of any hard-core anti-China economic actions, whether instigated by the administration or private individuals. That's not to say that there are trigger-happy folks in charge in China: They've benefitted quite nicely from this strange procedure of creating goods that they pay us to buy, and nobody there wants to put a premature end to it. Threaten the regime, though, and say g'bye to our collective nuts.
There are plenty of good arguments not to buy Chinese -- e.g., China makes a tremendous amount of worthless crap, the BEST of which arrives in the US, believe it or not -- but none of them have to do with regime change. You might as well resolve not to buy magic potions from goblins for all the good it'll do.
But go nuts. Boycott China to yr heart's content. I have only one point to make, and that's this: Chinese regime change is as salient to musical gear-talk as is a discussion of the proper tuning of a Klein bottle.

Again, I don't want MY money going to a country I don't like.

Do you understand the difference between a resolution of personal morality and a critical analysis of musical hardware based upon its intrinsic merits and one's professional and not-so-professional experience?
Based on your comment about China invading the US, my guess is "no".

embittered old fuck sits on perch chucking rocks at youthful idealism. woo hold the front page.
i'm not going to be lectured on my gear-buying and moral rectitude by someone with such a slender grasp of realpolitik
musicians ought to steer clear of this kind of thing.
