What does your practice space smell like?

Ours (Maps of Norway/STNNNG/White Jazz) smells like:

spilled beer
old carpet
hint of cigarettes
sometimes - strangely, and it seems to come and go, dead fish.

Carpeting. The dudes that run the space hung new carpeting on the walls to deaden the sound and that still dominates the smell.

Which, interestingly enough, smells just like M@tt's practice space, minus the carpet smell.

White Jazz is another band our drummer is in w/some of his friends, real good old school Beat Happening kinda indie - 2 guitars/drums/keyboards - the keyboard player paul is also the keyb player in Duplomacy....i think it's named after a book.

M@tt, the cut wood smell is because it's a woodshop/motorcycle garage.
It basically makes an interesting reverb chamber with its painted plywood walls and metal machinery.

ha, i remember when i first met the guy i now play with. he lived in this house, middle of nowhere, boarded up windows, no real carpets or anything, electric heaters, little lamps, all he'd been doing for the last 6 or 7 years was working a job during day, letting rip at night. his house was crammed with every kind of bit of percussion, piano, keyboards, pas, guitars... everything. the house smelt of MUSIC. i can't really describe the smell, it wasn't dank, it was kind of sweet. all my gear still smells like that, some of my clothes do too. that was the most kick ass practice space i've ever worked in, i swear i can smell that house when i listen back to the recordings we made there.

when we turn on the industrial heater in our space, it smells all musky and toxic. normally, the space it smells like cigarette butts and slate beer.

The warehouse where we get loud smells like upholstery and chemicals. Jams are far more often in my living room, which, ~~last night~~ this morning, smelleds like ~~garlic and spilled bongwater~~ nag champa.
