'72 Tele Bass with the fuck off huge humbucker
Travis Bean
Musicman Sterling
Fender Bass VI
Danelectro DC Bass

plus new tuners and bridge for my P-Bass special so it stays in tune for more than 2 songs.

Those little musicmasters/mustangs are sooooooooo cute! But I've got big, clumsy fingers and am 6' 4" so it would look like a banjo on me.

I have a Vox hollowbody bass, but it's standard shape, not teardrop. In storage at my mum's house, unfortuantely... my god, it sounds lovely.

Fender Bass VI

Oh yes!

Have you seen those Jaguar "Baritone"'s? I found one on Ebay for a stupidly cheap price (£330 buy it now) but it sold while I was dithering. Wish they'd reissued the Bass VI instead.

Like everyone else...

I didn't even know that was a bass until Colin told me.

I HAD that third red & white beast Roxy but in a guitar AND SOMEONE STOLE IT. Irreplaceable. It may not have been a Fender but it looked very very similar.

I own these;

Standard MusicMan Stingray

A Gretch Jet Baritone Guitar (cheap and rather lovely! a great alternative for folks who hunger after a Bass VI)

A Shergold Marathon 6 String Bass, a la Peter Hook but nowhere near as good as you might think, the sound is really thin and the wood is soft which makes the finish prone to bad cracking.

My Dream Bass, at the moment one of these:

This week I've been wanting a Telecaster Bass.

Or a non-reverse Thunderbird

Fender has a modern reissue of that Bass VI out now called the Jaguar Baritone Custom. I've seen one at a store in Lexington, it looks pretty fab. The only difference is that they went for a standard bridge instead of a Jaguar/Jazzmaster style, which from what I have heard about the tuning problems of the originals is an upgrade.

I'm primarily a bassist and really pretty happy with my setup. I have a 78 Fender Precision that weighs a metric ton and looks like the one Clint Conley is playing in the Mission of Burma pictures from the old days. I've had the PBass since 91. I also have a Fender Geddy Lee signature Jazz Bass and a tricked out Black Mexican Jazz Bass. The Mexi Jazz Bass is my main bass and I tricked it out this past spring with a Badass Bridge, some Seymour Duncan pickups and a black pickguard. Right now I have the 78 P-Bass tuned down a whole step, the Mexican Jazz bass down a 1/2 step and the Geddy Jazz bass in standard.

I like those Stingrays and Warwick Corvettes sound really nice. I've never been much on active basses, but I have been impressed by the sound people get out of those particular models.

What I would like is to find a cheap Mexican P-Bass and trick it out so I can tune it down two whole steps to C, F, A#, D#. I got another Badass bridge for $10 bucks and a pair of Epiphone humbuckers off a local guitar tech, so it is just waiting to find one at the right price.

I really like my Epiphone Les Paul bass. Sounds great through this little old Fender tube bass amp I have.

Ah, those are great!

Last night some sound man was going on about how my Dano longhorn "sounded great, but is girly." I was like "JOHN ENTWISTLE YOU...SOUND MAN" *turns away and puts up two fingers while clumsily walking into the bar*

oops sorry for the double weird post

I'd no idea that there was a Les Paul Bass. It's somehow very...wrong.

I like my Shergold just fine, however:

I think Tina Weymouth played a Les Paul bass occasionally. Isn't this one?:

Anyone played Fender's ? Jaguar Bass? Even if it was terrible, I'd want one just to look at. Mmmm....

Ben Dot (1977), Friday, 17 February 2006 07:26 (nineteen years ago)

That's a Höfner that Ms. Weymouth has there.

I have my dream basses, although I ought to get a less irreplacable five-string for touring.

Colin Meeder (Mert), Friday, 17 February 2006 09:20 (nineteen years ago)

Wow, that jag bass looks great.
