Hi I think I want a flanger

So yeah, I was listening to a recording of my band's most recent practice and during one song my guitar starts clipping or whatever but basically it sounds like it's being fed through a really badass flanger and I like it a lot more than my regular guitar part.

Now I want a flanger to replicate that sound - any suggestions on what to grab?

I realize that I'm starting to seem like a shill for the fine folks at the Electro-Harmonix organization, but if you want stupid crazy flanger fun, you might want to look at this: The Flanger Hoax

9 knobs! 4 mini-toggles!

(Note: I haven't actually gotten to play with one of these yet, but soon...soon.)

Line 6 Liqua-Flange = more craziness available than I can even get my head around

This isn't exactly a flanger, but you might want to give it a listen. It makes some really weird-ass sounds that are in the same neighborhood:

MOOGERFOOGERS ARE SUPER-HOT-SHIT-AWESOME.

One thing I like about that pedal is how all the knobs "go to 11", so to speak: Every sub-effect can be taken to the extreme.

Hence my EH love, I dig stuff that isn't afraid to allow for "bad" sounds.

I have Kate's electric mistress (older than either of us I thing) and a moogerfooger phaser. You can get some great sounds out of the mistress , it annoys me though as it eats batteries and won't take a power supply, but this is purely because it is old (the circuit board looks like a bunch of hippies flicked solder at it from the other side of the room). It does sound good though although turn it wrong and your audience will get seasick.

The moogerfooger is a fabulous beast you can get from thin to fat sounds, sweeps as slow as 100s wide or as fast as 1/250th which sounds like a dirty ring mod. You can dial in a flange type sound on it. Also you can pug in pedals to control every knob and modulate the second half of the 12 stage phaser with an external signal.

When I switch on my Moogerfooger Phaser, the rest of the band cowers in fear.

For phasing I still heart my Lovetone Doppleganger
