I've only ever seen the 488s. Did any other companies produce these?

I think ramsa made one at one point, but it was a long time ago, like the late eighties or something.

I think somebody (vestax?) made a six-track as well.
so did anyone use these much? i initially thought 'oh bad idea' but then remembered that the 8track reel to reel i used for years was 1/4" tape as well. did these machines run at normal speed or could you run at 7.5ips/15ips?

ie I've used one extensively for about 6 years. Well, not so extensively recently. And I love it. But I'm not an audiophile.
