So bored. Waiting for other band to finish before we go on...

we always play like crap when we have to start too late
― metametadata (n/a), Friday, 26 September 2008 12:13 (sixteen years ago)
we are old
Yeah, those are a bummer. Being the "headliner" of a 5 band bill is quite the dubious distinction.

The only thing that saved the night was that the second band was in the "lounge" room so we could set up while they were playing - otherwise I'd be misfiring everywhere, especially after realizing that I had drunk four beers (on a stomach full of pad thai) while I was waiting.
On the plus side, we played pretty well.

"thanks for stickin around"
Long night ahead. Fortunately there's a taco truck nearby - will offset beer nicely

These are fun if there are 1) people there and 2) they are drunk and rowdy enough.

My problem with these is always the transport issue.
Nothing like half your audience leaving coz they've got to catch a last train.
― Persian Pickle (Masonic Boom), Thursday, 5 November 2009 14:10 (fifteen years ago)
...and for said audience, there's nothing like paying to see a band you want to see, possibly double what it would have cost if they weren't on the lineup, and then having to leave before they start for that last train/bus/etc.
(stating the bleedin' obvious post)

oh no this was wednesday- 4 hours of waiting means I got very drunk. I think I played ok, I don't really remember

I'm going to one of these tonight to see my friend play. When I said I would go I thought it would be at a normal hour, but I found it out its superlate today(midnight, I'm lol-old). I'm still going to go because I got support my friend, but I'm getting sleepy just thinking about it. More afternoon shows please.

Being in some rather unprofessional outfits out for kicks, I played a couple of late gigs that were interesting as by the time we hit the stage everyone was in various stages of drunk. Much better to come in wired and play first, then get ripped.
The worse deal on this is when you go this way, you are out of town and have to travel back after getting done. I'd always end up driving with everyone else crashed and then it would be white knuckle driving while trying to not fall asleep at the wheel.
