Labels delaying album releases

Label just pushed a project I'm involved in back for the second time - first from March to April, now from April to October of this year. Shit has been finished for a few months, last one came out early summer '07.

Concerned about losing momentum. Wondering if this is worth shopping other labels for.

Did they give a reason for pushing it back? One would think that the label would share your concerns about momentum.

Are they still selling your last album well?

well I'm getting secondhand info because I'm not the one who communicates with the label, but my understanding is that they had another release they wanted to push and didn't want to release ours at the same time (presumably for budget reasons). But if that's true and we're being bumped for another record, the label is basically changing its mind and prioritizing another band over us. And that sucks.

Is it 3MI?

Yeah, getting short shrift as part of a roster is shitty.

That does suck, if you're getting the leftovers--but if it's just a scheduling thing, maybe i'm naive, but as long as your new slot is good, and you're getting the right amount of promo/pr, is it more of a touring issue or...?

Make a mixtape and sell that at shows/out of your trunk for $$$.

It's either that they've fucked up the other band too and delayed them for some unforseen reason and you're feeling the knock-on effect, or they told some small white lies when they told you how they prioritised your band. Either way they're a bunch of cunts.
