where do you keep your drums or are you super rich and can afford a detached house? if you're not.. where/how do you practice without your neighbours killing you?

i'm not in london, but for the last four or so years (living in apartments + no access to a university practice space) i've just been using a practice pad. i still imagine i'm playing kit and move my feet, and it works out pretty well.
that said, a few weeks ago i asked my neighbors if they minded me setting up some drums in the basement and practicing during reasonable hours, and they said cool. as much as i'd like to think that the pad is enough at this point (it wouldn't be good for a beginner, i don't think), i've been feeling really confident and together after being able to practice on real drums again.

You can put mutes on the drums and cymbals. This is how I manage to quell the drum shakes in the wee hours of the morning without my neighbors eradicating me.
