Sequencers vs. MPCs etc.

I need some advice with regards to finding an 'all-in-one' music sequencing device. I'm looking to change gears in my musical endeavors, however, I prefer the tactile elements of a drum-machine/synthesizer etc. and despite the versatility of using a laptop, I'm uninterested in getting Reason/Ableton/similar software.

Any suggestions? Research has led me to the Yamaha's RS-7000, but I don't know. Anything powerful enough, but on a budget.

do you already have synths and stuff to sequence???

if not then unless you have some serious cash to blow then i'd reconsider the software route.

hardware wise, i'd go with the mpc5000, not exactly cheap but it does more than the other mpcs.

Roger Linn Design AdrenaLinn III. Absolutely priceless. Not that dear, either.

The nice thing about an MPC as a MIDI sequencer is that actually kind of feels like you are playing an instrument. I've messed around with quite a few and there is something a bit more natural about its quantization when playing something live into it.

Thanks all for the responses.

I've been thinking about the SR-16 a lot lately. It has the drum sounds I'm looking for, essentially Ministry's Land of Rape and Honey/Twitch.

Er, yeah, but what sort of sequencing device could I hook it up to, and hopefully sync it to some nasty arpeggios and shit? I do already have a Roland JX-8P (not so great, I admit), but am such a newb I don't know the first thing about bringing it together. midi, I assume.
