Any suggestions for rock numbers (preferably dance-inducing) suitable for an amateur band with emphasis on female alto vocal accompanied by tenor sax and the usual drum, bass, rhythm and lead guitar?
Current set list is mainly male numbers, as the young lady's only recently joined us:-

A more upbeat number by Irma Thomas or some other such New Orleans type R&B gal? I wanted to be in bed two hours ago and my brane is short circuited, someone else can take the plate in naming actual tracks.

Thanks for those. Black Velvet is a must and love Stevie Nicks. I'll have to get the others up on youtube.
Get that brain refreshed so I can have some more!!
Good night (or good afternoon here) and thanks again.

OK - listened to Wanda Jackson, loved the rockabilly stuff (can see where Imelda May got some of her influences) but not so keen on the slower country numbers.
Irma Thomas - I do like that northern soul sound, but don't think it's up the street of the rest of the band.
We're now working on Sunday Girl, I'm A believer and I Only Want To Be With You (The Tourists' version)
More suggestions welcome!!
