incorrect mp3 tags showing up on burned discs when opened in iTunes -- what is there to do?

i had some cd's burned that were created in GarageBand/iTunes, and converted to mp3 in Audacity.

when i put the CD's in a mac and open them in iTunes, i get a completely different artist and track titles showing up on the track list. the songs are the same, the running times the same -- but the track list displays them as something completely different altogether.

i tried manually changing the information in iTunes, which works on the one computer, but doesn't on any other mac you put the disc into. the info on a PC just comes up as "Track 1," "Track 2," etc., which is fine.

any suggestions? someone mentioned getting a GraceNotes account, but i don't know how to do that, and visiting their website didn't help, either.

please, please help.

well...it's kind of complicated. you can't actually change the information on the burned CD itself. in fact the track info/names weren't burned onto the CD. the CD only contains the raw audio information. any changes you make in iTunes will be saved for that specific computer only.

I guess the best you can do is try to "submit" to Gracenote the correct information from someone's copy of iTunes and hope it registers in their database.

crazy. so after i submit, it takes a while, if it ever takes? i mean, iTunes says "submitted successfully," but that doesn't seem to mean anything cuz it still reads wrong in another computer.

were they all burned at the same time / from the same files/iso?

i had a company burn them all from the same files, presumably at the same time

Why not reconvert them to mp3 and then give them id3 tags?
