oh bitchin, ty, i thought it was some kinda peavy. you are better at google than i.
saw a pic of him w/ this on a tape i picked up the other day.

(tape sounds kinda like a bakersfield country rock sorta thing, or, closer to that anyway than his usual rockabilly stuff, digging it a lot.)

huh, it has a weird coil split feature that functions by rolling back the tone knob instead of those push/pull pots (tone at 10=single coil, roll back and at some point, 5 or 7 depending on the make i think, and it flips to humbucker). i would so love to play with one of these.

and some phase switching stuff in the circuit, too, but i've never messed with anything like that.

oh and there's a message board dedicated entirely to this guitar! http://www.t60mafia.com/ what a world.

Dude T-60's (and their bass brother the T-40) are super cool guitars, but they weigh like 8 billion pounds. They sound awesome tho.

This isn't actually my guitar pictured, but the one I have is identical. It was made in 1998, bought by me in 2006 and now collecting dust. Before I start shopping it around, I want to know exactly what to call it. Epiphone Les Paul Special Double Cutaway? Epiphone Special Double Cutaway? Who knows the proper model name? When I bought it, I just knew it by sight...not by name.

i think it's 'Les Paul Special Double Cutaway' but really i'm just bumping the thread so ppl who actual know Gibson/Epiphone might see it and confirm/deny.

if you 'bay it or craigslist it or whatever i'm sure as long as you've got all those things in there in some order ppl searching will find/recognize

four years pass...

I finally found this image again after 25 years and I'm still wondering what this Kevin Shields guitar is - I'm also wondering if it's what they used for "Cigarette in Your Bed"

It looks a lot like a washburn, honestly

Takamine. Verified with a photo from the loveless tour

Do you have a link to the photo? I've seen him playing another takamine around the same time, but it looked much thicker.

Yes! Probably something like that. The fender-shaped headstock threw me for a loop.

It's a pawshop special -- which doesn't make it a bad guitar necessarily -- I think it's more likely to be Japanese than European. A Teisco maybe?

pawnshop. no animals were harmed in the making of the guitar.
