Starts January 13th. Maybe this year there will be a new color for guitars that isn't a different kind of satin black.

I'm very curious about the new Korg...er....thing that has been teasered a bit over the last few days. a little bit of the sound was quite wavestation-ish. I love my wavestation but it is getting a bit long in the tooth, so....

Gloss black! No really... late 80's style metal guitars! The perfect thing for an industry that's even more defensive and wary of trying out new stuff than it was last year.

As for the Korg Kronos, something that seems to be named after the Klingon's home planet has to have a user interface that only responds to being slammed with fists in frustration.

You aren't on AH by any chance snoball? The discussion of the Kronos there was (facepalm.gif), it always is when something new comes out!

There is a lot of nonsense being talked about the Kronos, seemingly in inverse proportion to actual solid information. On one forum I saw a thread deteriorate into an argument about whether or not the name was supposed to be in all caps or not. One thing is certain, Kronos/KRONOS is a thing and very likely to be something I can't afford.

Thanks, I kind of had a brainfart when I saw AH. That thread is the usual pile-on of people trying to top each other with obscure knowledge. I didn't read the whole thing, but no doubt people ended up trying to bolster the validity of their predictions by listing all the gear they have in their home studios (that they don't actually make any music with).

Looks pretty good, although it should really be thru-body stringing. Aimed as an alternative to the Epi SG? Nice to see a properly adjustable bridge on a ~£250 guitar.

And just in case anyone thought Fender were being sensible, they've also announced three more 'Road Worn' guitars, because for some reason this stupid idea is popular enough for them to keep doing it...

G&L is doing very little (not even bothering with a namm booth in fact) other than some new us finishes and bringing back the tribute HSS legacy without the locking trem afaik.

which is fine tbh, the line is pretty solid and doesnt need much retooling, although some new tribute colors would have been nice

The 'Road Worn' HSS strat in Inca Silver does capture that 'shitty old guitar bought from a pawn shop for £100' look, and only for a few notes short of eight hundred!

there is a new eastwood that is sorta O_O in the sense of how balls out the choice of instrument to reissue is, but i think i am prob technically still supposed to be hush hush about it.

two new Way Huge pedals getting released - the Green Rhino pseudo-reissue (overdrive) and the Ringworm which looks like a super nutzoid 5 waveform LFO ring modulator.

KRONOS news: it's a huge keyboard with a huge 16GB SSD in it.

...oh and it does Korg Legacy style emulation as well, plus a few other things.

If the 'Black Hole' preset is the same one that's on the Eventide Harmonizers I'd buy the damn thing just to have that sound at my feet, best enormo/bloom/drone reverb I've ever heard.

info is still kinda trickling out - most of these companies seem to be kinda off their game because i think they didnt expect last year to suck less than usual, so they are kinda scrambling with launch info. hoping to see the jazzmaster in person soon.

zoom brought out a big brother to their r16 recorder/interface/control surface called the r24 that adds a full function drum machine and phantom power to 6 of the mic ins and uh a bunch of other stuff i dont remember for $499. the new electroharmonix stuff seemed uncharacteristically bland and unexciting, but i dont have all the info on them yet either. ibanez is making some bizarro bass called the aschula that is fretted up to the fifth and fretless after that which is kinda interesting, and peavey announced the devin townsend 7 string baritone, which would be a great idea for a couple of the outside jazz dudes i have coming in here, but im sure its going to be matte black and shaped like a can opener so

about 2yrs ago i bought a flat black ibanez AS73, which became my primary guitar. i usually only see that color on stuff aimed at the metal market, but recently chris cornell was playing a black satin gibson 335 on Conan... matte is really getting pushed out there like that now?

dunno how i feel about that (other than the part where i feel like snatching ol' "Fender Denny's" telecaster right out of the picture)

What's really stupid, if I can actually pick out one single thing, is that Gibson make this big 'it's not a digital sim of pickups, it's all analogue!' (supposedly a dig at the Variax), but then the first thing the signal goes into is a DSP chip.

There's a whole 20 page powerpoint presentation where they try and cram the word 'revolutionary' in three/four times per slide. Maybe this guitar does actually transform into a robot.

watching videos of this now, really cool! i would love to play with ways to abuse the filter matrix mode.

the stuff you can do by placing the filter matrix in front of your distortion is mindblowing
