Seriously, I have notebooks full of song titles that I never actually, you know, got around to writing a song for.

Les centimètres énigmatiques (snoball), Monday, 24 January 2011 17:27 (fourteen years ago) link

Yeah, I have one right here.

Post some titles!

13. Fuck You (I'm Being Pandered To)

Bernard V. O'Hare (dog latin), Thursday, 27 January 2011 14:29 (thirteen years ago) link

Post some titles?

Well, put it this way, I enrolled in an online "bands" game, you know the thing, make songtitles, issue albums/singles, see them into the charts, etc.

I found a printout more recently, and one of the song titles I'd invented was "Something to talk about"

At least, I know Damon Gough could not have possibly seen that.

I post one of my nascent titles here, and it subsequently becomes a medium sized hit that I *could* have written, ooh....

Does anybody remember: Together, We Write Lyrics For An Album!

Mark G, Friday, 28 January 2011 10:59 (thirteen years ago) link

"baby i wanna hold u (in contempt of court)"

Temple Grindin (m bison), Sunday, 30 January 2011 06:01 (thirteen years ago) link

At least, I know Damon Gough could not have possibly seen that.

Bonnie Raitt, though...

Tyler/Perry's "Dude (Looks Like a Lady)" (jaymc), Sunday, 30 January 2011 07:22 (thirteen years ago) link

Is she a demon for the internet game, like?

Mark G, Monday, 31 January 2011 12:35 (thirteen years ago) link

This thread isn't really taking off as anticipated.

Bernard V. O'Hare (dog latin), Monday, 31 January 2011 12:38 (thirteen years ago) link

Although I'd be interested to hear "At least, I know Damon Gough could not have possibly seen that", sounds like a smash hit.

Bernard V. O'Hare (dog latin), Monday, 31 January 2011 12:39 (thirteen years ago) link

xp I can thread-bomb with the ~2000 unused/unfinished songs if you like? (I strongly suspect that you wouldn't like)

Les centimètres énigmatiques (snoball), Monday, 31 January 2011 12:58 (thirteen years ago) link

do it!

Bernard V. O'Hare (dog latin), Monday, 31 January 2011 14:35 (thirteen years ago) link

14. 'Krazy Ivan'

15. 'MISSFIT=BRUCE' - mis-spelling of 'misfit' is important, as is capitalisation

16. 'Fuck Up Middle America' - over the years I learnt the importance of taking better notes, but this is from my 'just write down the title and I'll remember it all later!!! OMG I AM GENIAS!!!' period.

17. 'Orgasm' - according to the notes I wanted this to sound like a cross between Kraftwerk and Motley Crue.

18. 'DJ Mustard Custard vs The Master Bastards' - I think this was supposed to be some kind of DJ/dance music spoof.

19. 'This'll Turn You Into A Sexual Tyranosaur' - the title is a sample from the movie 'Predator'. Actually there are loads of these from about 9/10 years ago, where I'd think 'oh yeah, take a sample of that line from a movie, then build a song around it!!!' but it's usually a crap way of writing songs.

20. 'You Get Confused Watching Rainbow' - something an ex-colleague used to say.

21. 'Satan Worshipping Death Rocker' - a Marilyn Manson piss-take.

Les centimètres énigmatiques (snoball), Monday, 31 January 2011 15:43 (thirteen years ago) link

20 = twee version of AC.

Mark G, Monday, 31 January 2011 15:45 (thirteen years ago) link

"(Do The) Nosferatu" will eventually replace the Monster Mash AFA Halloween staples go. It'll be an instructional dance song in the style of "Superman", with bits that go "Now stick out your teeth, and crook your hand, shuffle around, it's really grand". The video will contain lots of wholesome boys and girls nosferatuing their way into and around a swimming pool on a cruiseliner.

22. 'pour le egotist' AKA 'je suis un egotist' - despite not being French and not actually being able to speak the language either, I decided to make an all French lyrics techno album. This was supposed to be the title track.

23. 'Gimp With A Yo-yo'

24. 'Addicted To Cornflakes'

25. 'Instructions For A Zero Gravity Toilet' - rap song based on the zero-g toilet instructions that Heywood Floyd is seen reading during the flight to the Moon in '2001'. 'This is a zero gravity toilet / please read this notice so you don't spoil it / Keep a tight hold of the handle / whatever you do, don't light a candle'

26. 'This Track Left Intentionally Blank' - just several seconds of silence...

snoball 2002: "ha ha! it's funnee, like the pages in books that say 'this page left intentionally blank' aha-ha-hah-aha-haha!'
snoball 2011: slaps the shit out of snoball 2002

Les centimètres énigmatiques (snoball), Monday, 31 January 2011 16:00 (thirteen years ago) link

I still think it's kind of funny.

27. 'KGB Dwarf' - based on the urban legend that the lunar rover that the Russians sent up there in 1970 was controlled by a dwarf inside, who had been trained by the KGB. Also there was going to be a telephone number (54239273 = KGBDWARF) set up with some kind of message on an answerphone. As to what the song was going to sound like, I don't remember, except that the chorus was to be people shouting "KGB DWARF!!!"

28. 'You Don't Realise You're Unhappy 'Til Afterwards' - WTF??? Possibly a Radiohead piss-take, although I did later just settle for re-writing 'No Ripcord' as 'No Bogroll'.

Made a track about this same time, called "Turn The Page" that sampled a children's story tape. Guffaw.

Bernard V. O'Hare (dog latin), Monday, 31 January 2011 16:10 (thirteen years ago) link

29. '9 To 5 Trans Europe Express' - a mash up of Dolly Parton's '9 To 5' and Kraftwerk's 'TEE'.

Les centimètres énigmatiques (snoball), Monday, 31 January 2011 16:11 (thirteen years ago) link

30. 'The Quadratic Equation Song' - apart from it possibly being about quadratic equations, I'm drawing a blank here.

31. 'Talking Shit To The Zebras' - as above, a total mystery as to what this was supposed to be.

Les centimètres énigmatiques (snoball), Monday, 31 January 2011 16:14 (thirteen years ago) link

32. 'Garçon Rides A Shitbird'

Les centimètres énigmatiques (snoball), Monday, 31 January 2011 16:18 (thirteen years ago) link

33. 'White Collar Zoo' - supposed to be based on a 1949 book with that title.

34. 'Danish Scrabble' or possibly 'Danish Scramble' o_O my handwriting...

35. '(Help! I'm) drowning in alpha waves'

Les centimètres énigmatiques (snoball), Monday, 31 January 2011 16:34 (thirteen years ago) link

Made a track about this same time, called "Turn The Page" that sampled a children's story tape. Guffaw.

36. 'Bastardo' - a song full of swearing in Spanish, structured like a Linguaphone cassette. Part of a 4/5 track album referred to by the cryptic acronym 'IATMEG'

37. 'Mr. Wet Pants'

40. 'Mussolini's Garage Hang Out' - ho ho ho, with these puns you are spoiling us, Ambassador!

Les centimètres énigmatiques (snoball), Monday, 31 January 2011 16:48 (thirteen years ago) link

Ah, I remember one I posted on a list of genuine new tracks I'd made, that I sent to our drummer.

41. "Let's pretend we're lesbians"

That's the one he wanted to do, I had to tell him it didn't exist and wasn't going to.
