your gear: how much of it can you blame on ilx?

how many of you have made purchase decisions influenced directly by ILX, and how much of your total gear does this constitute? what else influences your decisions and by how much? kind of a dumb meta thread but: i just realized what a high percentage of my current gear is the direct result of reading IMM. it's hardly my primary source for info so it was a little surprising. i think the percentage tip toward IMM influenced stuff is due to being relatively poor and having liquidated most of what i had once owned pre-ilx, but as i currently stand it's...the bulk of my most recent acquisitions!

Speaking of which, if you were broke, had a decent computer (newish iMac) and had no musical training but could spend let's say $100 on a piece of equipment and some "borrowed" software in order to make your own shitty music at home, what equipment would you get?

I was thinking maybe a midi controller or something?

yeah adam, i would get a midi controller with usb (since you don't have an audio interface/preamp).

adam I would recommend the akai mpd24 or similar if u r into drums and knobs and shit

gearslutz main culprit here too. A wonderful resource esp for buying the right gear but man there is some hatred on that board.
