Hi all,
I have been using a line6 DL4 to do live looping for a while. but 14 seconds is no longer enough for my needs
i've been having a look at pedals and found it hard to decide which one to buy. the boss ones (RC20XL / RC30 / RC50) look good as does the digitech jamman. i dunno though, any recommendations?
what i mainly want is one that does what the DL4 do but for longer, which i think all of the above does the job. but a way to actually seemlessly switch between different phrases will be really good too (i.e. I can playback the verses, then press a button and stop that and start recording/playing a chorus part and switch between them)
I downloaded mobius and actually i might be able to make that work but then I'd need a better sound input/output than my netbook can do. should i just get a decent USB soundcard (and a few footswitches) instead?

Was just battling with my EHX2880 an hour or so. I'm not sure I'm still a fan. There are few infuriating features that could so easily be fixed with a firmware upgrade, but the chances of EHX spending time on that when there's no conceivable payment in it makes me feel like they're not going to give a fuck. In addition to the price the build quality is average (not a problem if you're coming from DL4 I guess), the inputs lack serious headroom, and they've done an incredibly cunty thing is reversing the polarity and changing the jack size of the 9V plug so you have to use their adaptor rather than having it in your power chain. Also the CF card is hardly utilised in the best manner. In addition, you will need to also by the pricey footswitch (or a MIDI footcontroller) if you wanna use in handsfree.
Shit, that sounds like I hate it, but it's the only one I've kept out of it, Akai Headrush, and the JamMan. The Headrush was too limited in it's looping for me, and the JamMan was great but I only had the first version of it, which lacked stereo and reversing loops.
Not much experiences with the Boss pedals - apparently the RC50 does everything, but it's absolutely huge. Would investigate the new version of the JamMan...
I've also got Mobius but looks pretty hard to learn to use from scratch (unless, I suppose, you are proficient with an Echoplex!)

Someone talk me out of buying a Pigtronix Infinity. I haven't found any naysayers yet...

Don't buy it. Rent or borrow it first.

i just took a boomerang 3 in on trade and it's doing a good job of reminding me how terrible i am at operating loop pedals

I got the Infinity looper. I really like it, but it's difficult to trust just how little latency it has. I keep subconsciously working in a pause because I think it needs to catch up, but it's right there with you.
