I know that the best way to record an acoustic guitar is to mic it - I've been trying to make a good acoustic guitar recording for a long time and my results have not been good. For one thing the acoustics of my apartment are very bad, there is a lot of room noise due to the heating system and street noise, also roommates and neighbors are very loud and I have to wait until very late at night until I have enough silence to record.
So I'm thinking maybe I should just install a nice set of acoustic pickups on my Martin OOOX1. Maybe a set of Fishmans or K&Ks - then try to record direct or through a nice DI box like an LR Baggs Para DI. Am I crazy for doing this? Should I just keep trying to get the mics positioned just right? Thanks for any advice.
