Baritone guitar suggestions?

a friend of mine told me he was thinking about purchasing a new fender blacktop baritone. i told him i knew of at least one person who might suggest otherwise (jjj), figured i'd toss it out there- chime in with your thoughts on a baritone alternative to this (factoring in $500 price point):

i have wanted a baritone guitar for a long time but haven't committed to getting one

I've always kind of wanted one too. Maybe we should go 50/50 on one and shuttle it back and forth on the E train

Baritone Telecaster is bizarrely cool. Price is easier to handle than a Bass VI

Eastwood sidejack is now available in both baritone 28" scale and true bass vi scale. Also for yet another option the hagstrom semi hollow Viking baritone is awesome.

Probably, but I did not enter the world of caring about different types of guitars until this year

I meant the 2012 '56 reissue -- but I have played the old Baritone Classic and it's a good 'un, would probably be a real bargain to find it used.

those might be bootlegs? ill call my danelectro dude and see what the deal is.

huh, danelectro.com seems to be one of the most useless websites I've seen since 2002

they should hire whomever put together that bootleg site, since that person seems to understand the value of a) giving information about the product, and b) providing a mechanism to purchase the product

not a bootleg! sorry. just completely and totally sold out until november. just ordered one in black and one in red.

which leaves 3 red and 5 black available for anyone who didn't order one yet apparently. so there may be some slight pipeline production issues.

the only trick w/ the danelectro baritone is that it has a great unique sound, but it really has very little range imo - the plywood frame body thing gives it a very open mid heavy almost honky sort of sound (assuming that the construction is the same as previous models).

also thx to this thread, i am now ordering 4 baritones today - the eastwood bari, the eastwood bass vi, and the two danelectros i just mentioned.

The only electric guitar I own is Bass VI style. A Fender Custom Classic 2001, bought for $800. It is fantastic. I would've got a Danelectro if they were easier to find and I didn't even know about the Eastwoods

New danelectro single cut Bari has arrived and it is fantastic - they shifted to Korean production for this one, and it def is an improvement

That picture is slightly wrong I think, iirc the one we have has an intonatable bridge, but I am not at the shop right now so I might be wrong.
