Cajon Box C/D S/D

So now we've played our first proper gig, my band is looking to play a bit more over Christmas. We really like the idea of being able to play anywhere, any time, especially at house parties, outdoors, care homes, open mics and whatnot rather than just at dedicated music venues.

The guitarist and I are thinking of giving our drummer a present of a hand drum or more specifically a Cajon box for this very purpose. Are they any good? The cheapest ones are about £45-£50 but then they jump up to almost twice the price which is a bit out of our range considering it's just supposed to be a bit of fun. Would anyone recommend getting one of these; specifically a cheap one, or is it a waste of money?

Kinda hate these, makes me think of Mumford + Sons + that new folk nonsense. Don't let that stop you tho!

yeah we won't bother with that. they are a bit wanky, but i like the idea of being a portable band - one that doesn't have to be mic'd up to play.
