Acoustic Bass Guitars C/D S/D?

I'm thinking of getting one. There are actually some remarkably cheap models on the net, and I'm wary of buying something rubbish. Then again I'm not rich, so the cheaper the better. Anyone got any experience with these and might be able to recommend a model?

Always wanted one of these when I was a kid. I was a huge Violent Femmes fan.

Also was fascinated with guitarrons.

I bought a cheap one a couple of years back for about £80-100. It looks good and it's fun to play, but it's far too 'buzzy' on the frets to record. I had to work out my bassline and use the midis on garageband instead.

If you're after more than a bit of fun, splash out imo.

no experience with them, i always wonder how these don't fold in on themselves. imagining really huge longitudinal braces.
