i'm addicted to rack gear at the moment

people seem to be getting hip to the alesis stuff again, the prices have been creeping up. i haven't been able to find a midiverb 2 for love nor money lately either

some of the mid end lexicon reverbs can be had for near fuck all though

i make very heavy use of the roland digital space echo because it is unhip and sounds wonderful, that's usually pretty cheap.

pretty much any reverb/delay that has roland on it for under a couple hundo is worth grabbing imo

i had a handful of rack things that i stupidly sold when i was a guitar player that i really wish i still had for synths, a quadraverb among them

i like all the sony/yamaha units from the 80s/90s, this thing gets a lot of use:

good tip is to look for 'broken' units that still power up, it usually just means replacing a battery

I sold my quadraverb. US/UK PSU issues rendered it near worthless.
I have one of these, minus a couple of units and had it working for like a day. Need to find time to hardwire it into a patchbay and get some use out of it.

speaking of rack synths, we ended up with a yamaha TX81Z and an emu proteus 2000 that came out of a soundtrack designers house, i am assuming no one gives a shit abt either of those right?

TX81Zs are ace if you can be bothered making your own sounds, there's a nice windows editor out there for it

^^^ somebody will buy the Yamaha. The Proteus is harder to sell, really depends on what expansion cards are installed.

(the 'Pure Phat' expansion was so popular with hip-hop producers that Emu made a separate module just based around that sample set, also a couple of the piano expansions were big because for the time they had huge samples, and IIRC there was some world music expansion that people liked)
