We've already got three people in this band who sing AND play, why do we need another singer who doesn't play any instruments to sing on like just two songs?

He is very good, and he's a nice guy and he gets it, but I have a feeling my squablee is wanting to get him in because he himself suddenly feels self conscious about his singing (despite being a good singer). And what's this other guy meant to do when he's not taking lead? Skulk around, leave the stage bang a tambourine? To me it's not a necessary addition - if it ain't broke etc...

So you spend weeks making sure the levels on your mix are just right. You analyse frequencies, try it out on different speaker and headphone set-ups, play it to (long-suffering) friends who tell you maybe there's a bit too-much low end, so you go back and change it, listen to other records and compare. You do all that over a course of days and weeks, the others in the band are happy, then your drummer comes along and says 'needs more kick' and proceeds to ramp up the kick drum to ear-splitting levels, drowning out the rest of your mix. He then starts turning up the bass guitar to 'compensate', tinkering with every setting on the mixer till it's a horrible headache-inducing mess.
Short of throttling, what do you do?

Since when did bands start listening to drummers?

Wait until the drummer isn't there and revert to the version before he meddled with it. Don't say anything and he probably won't know the difference.
