how does a switch work?

Jim to thread, I'm too tired to attempt his particular brand of pedantry but I think it would be just the ticket.

Meanwhile here is a musical interlude featuring Desirée Ob’Houilegghhan And Her Thousand Screaming Harpsichords (listeners are urged not to uncross their legs during the performance).

contrary to popular belief, a switch CAUSES NO CHANGE IN THE STATE OF THE DEVICE TO WHICH IT IS ATTACHED!!! rather, changing the position of the switch, instantly and imperceptibly changes everything else in the world such that, by comparison, a dark bulb seems bright, a still mixer appears to be in motion, a live, indigent, retarded, poor, abused-as-a-child american convict appears to be dead, etc. once you realize what's going on, either you never touch a switch again or become obsessed with ceaselessly flipping the light switch in your ward on and off.

Bed goes up,
Bed goes down.
Bed goes up,
Bed goes down.

The simple answer is that they don't.

I have a fantastic desk lamp which you turn on and off and make the light brighter or dimmer just by touching its base. I think this might work by magic.

I have the same lamp. It gives off shocks and is very dangerous.

Nordicskillz (Nordicskillz), Tuesday, 27 May 2003 20:09 (twenty-two years ago)

I get bright when someone touches MY base.

I don't know about the magic stuff...

Way to kill a thread, Marty.

Matt (Matt), Friday, 14 November 2003 01:23 (twenty-two years ago)

Way to revive a thread, Matt

Jarlr'mai (jarlrmai), Friday, 14 November 2003 14:26 (twenty-two years ago)

Way to make an obvious post, Jim.

Matt (Matt), Friday, 14 November 2003 15:29 (twenty-two years ago)

Way to be condescending, Matt.

Jarlr'mai (jarlrmai), Friday, 14 November 2003 16:08 (twenty-two years ago)

Back in your box, kid.

I thought hurley had already explained everything and it was time for recess.

But...nooo.

Now I have to take my damn shoes off and put the ball away...
