Arguing about hats C/D

Well our big brothers and sisters on ILE have loads of time for this topic, so presumably us humble drunks must follow. Only instead of amassing 472 new answers in ten minutes due to Momus and Jess having king-sized hissy fits this thread will take a week to accrue maybe five answers. Because this is Ask A Drunk, and frankly we couldn't give a toss about hats.

I say that brimless is the way to go .

With a brimless hat, if you happen to be slightly impaired, you dont have to worry about putting it on sideways or backwards.

Thus removing any possibility of being mis identified as a dumbass instead of an inebriated doddering old fool.

The exception to the rule of course would be the full face ski mask.

I think more people should wear balaclavas.

Yes yes but then you'd be making a strong statement by aligning yourself with Irish terrorist groups you see. Thus proving that you are a reactionary religious bigot. DO YOU SEE?

Flat caps C or D?

Weebleman (StillSimon), Friday, 13 June 2003 11:44 (twenty-two years ago)

Far from being a symbol of terrorism, the humble balaclava reminds me of the Charge of the Light Brigade.

Aha! So you're aligning yourself with the British officer classes who willinglty sent the proletariat to their certain deaths! Fascist! Rockist!

Not at all. I'm merely pointing out that there is an association - tenuous, I grant you - between a knitted black woolly hat and 19th century poetry. I thought everybody knew that.

In case you have forgotten, Tennyson himself was no stranger to a stylish titfer, as we can see.....

Everyone will be wearing banana-festooned kim-chee next season. If this doesn't happen, why then, I'll eat my hat.

Give me an elephant scrotum skullcap anytime. Fuck these silly fads.

one month passes...
Hats are okay, I don't really think about them much.

Fair enough, I suppose as I don't recall a hat ever mentioning YOUR name.

You're obviously never been to the land of the speaking hats . . .
