The pope? Christ almighty, there have been dozens upon dozens of the poor sods and they're all dead but one. So, go ahead and pick a day, any day, and you'll probably be right. The calendar is littered with their corpses, in a manner of speaking.

There is no money to be made on a dead pope, unless you are one of those rare Italian families who have provided funeral services for popes through the centuries. Imagine if you livelyhood depended upon a timely demise? Would you not be tempted to spike the sacremental wine if the finances got a little tight?
