Sisyphus and 8 ball

Simple circuits ... this my simply wired brain can relate too ... tho it could be more appropriately invert philosophy ... the point :::>
spent my saturday night reading the myth of Sisyphus and managed to squeeze in a few games of 8 ball played in a sisyphus-like manner, at least for a while anyway.

How ironic to be reading the myth of Sisyphus on a saturday night.

stumbled across this forum looking for the meaning of life.

Anyone seen it lately?

over there *gestures vaguely*

I found it once. Years ago. Decided it would be a good idea to stash it behind the pillow on the couch. When I went to retrieve it turned out my dog had found it and taken it to bury it in the yard somewhere.

After a long conversation with my dog, he abruptly ended it by stating that I wasn't ready to handle the meaning of life yet.

As far as I am aware, it is still somewhere in a backyard of a house I rented once. Covered in dirt.

Can't remember what it looked like tho ...

A-ha, down the back of the sofa. Always a winner. Things I have found down the back of my sofa include:

fluff
Yvette Fielding
a can of film from the ill-fated remake of Get Carter
assorted change (including a pound! Once!)
used matches
Bjork
A-ha (the band, not the exclamation)
a used map
the albatross from The Rime of the Ancent Mariner who, I have to assume, had wandered into the wrong joke
speaking of which, Andi Peters
an extra sofa! What a day!
The entire discography of noted haircuts Performance
(A pound! A POUND!)
A dog-eared copy of the Wordsworth Classics edition of Izaak Walton's The Compleat Angler
An Angler fish, the same day, oddly
This thread, leading to a cyclical anomaly which I very much doubt that anyone on this forum has this capacity to explain
The Gloucester Shroud, which is like Turin shroud, only from Gloucester
An itinerant tinker, complete with knife-grinder and cup
some discarded lengths of Scalextrix track, for which I have since found a buyer
some discarded lengths of that shit Scalextrix imtitation, you know, the one where you couldn't overtake? I haven't found a buyer for them
Andi Peters
pegs
jpegs
Andi Peters
speaking of which, Andi Peters

I once got so excited because while cleaning beneath the cussions of the couch I found an entire bed folded up inside!

I called the wife, the local newspaper, all the family and my neighbors..... they thought it was a big joke but I swear it was there!

I went so far as to open it up and sleep on it at my wifes suggestion that night and every night for the next week as well.

I must say, it wasn't all that comfortable but it really was right there in the couch all along and we have no idea how it ever got there......

Anyone missing a folding bed?

I suspect my dog and the meaning of life are missing a folding bed.

In particular, the meaning of life. Before it dissappeared into a hole in rented premises backyard I caught it napping in moments it thought no one was watching.

cyclical anomaly .... well, being that I live in Australia ... the repetitive re-election of the Howard government.

speaking of things found behind the couch ...

A pound! Good score. that IS the most exciting couch finding yet.

I keep checking my couch now in the hope of similar luck. Perhaps I could become a professional couch inspector. maybe i will stumble across the meaning of life again ... or a POUND!

Australia eh?

You remind me of someone who visited this forum a few years ago.
She went on holiday to the Med and hasn't been heard from since.

Do ypu knoe anything aboout wombats?

Zen Clown, Tuesday, 1 November 2005 02:23 (nineteen years ago)

Pardon my speling. My proofreader is on holiday.

Zen Clown, Tuesday, 1 November 2005 02:25 (nineteen years ago)

wombats ... definately don't hit one with your car. Wombat shakes itself, car runs off wailing.

fav ozzie joke ... how are men like wombats? they both eat, roots and leaves

not many wombats in my area ... tho lots of snakes, spiders, kangaroos and wild pigs.

"This thread, leading to a cyclical anomaly which I very much doubt that anyone on this forum has this capacity to explain."

I could explain it, but I won't.

Hey Matt?

Linda is making fun of me. I think I should get her ice cream.

Zen Clown, Tuesday, 1 November 2005 03:48 (nineteen years ago)

I think I saw the beginings of a thread on this forum:

"For sale or trade: One large round rock with an aversion to vertical planes. Contact Sysiphus@hades.com. (Don't mess with Zeus.)"

Zen Clown, Tuesday, 1 November 2005 04:06 (nineteen years ago)

al contrare ... I think the big round rock has a penchant for vertical planes, much to Sisyphus' dismay

double choc fudge implanted with cookies icecream please

"spent my saturday night reading the myth of Sisyphus and managed to squeeze in a few games of 8 ball played in a sisyphus-like manner, at least for a while anyway."

I'm going to speculate that the pool table was level. It was the effect of the Foster's that made it seem that you were shooting uphill. Perhaps a 180 degree return off the far cushion added to the illusion.

Zen Clown, Tuesday, 1 November 2005 11:02 (nineteen years ago)

you haven't seen the local pool table ....

and it is a fallacy that we (Aussies) drink fosters
personally I'm quite partial to Hahn or James Boags. Beer.
I meant Sisyphus-like metaphorically ... no real point to it, not getting anywhere. Tho that is open to speculation as we certainly got our money's worth ;)

StrangeDays (StrangeDays), Tuesday, 1 November 2005 12:43 (nineteen years ago)

I stand corrected.
