Ladies, gentlemen,

First off, I'd like to thank you all for coming 'round to take a peek at this here thread.

Second off, I'd like to offer a stiff drink (or totally laid-back, if that's your, like, thing) to the person who can most cleverly and euphonically rhyme Schenectady and synecdoche in a poem.

Third off is a rotten egg.

On My Way To Schenectady

Only half way there,
I waited one day more to scheme.

The glass, half full, propels me.

The larger, more general thing
Is my destination;
Yet I hope for synecdoche.

Confusingly, New York, the city,
sometimes stands in for all of New York,
a substitute not quite so pretty
but containing more Mu Shu Pork.

This 'part that stands in for the whole'
is the figure that's known as synecdoche.
Just be sure your part's up for the role;
do not choose as your stand-in Schenectady.
