I'd like to see this looked into in the manner of Sherlock Holmes.
As Mr. Doyle was so fond of saying, "Shiboleths and subtle hints suffice when one is drunk enough. I hope I'll be quoted some day."

Zen Clown (Zen Clown), Monday, 20 January 2003 05:38 (twenty-two years ago)

Ah! Conan 'the librarian' Doyle. What a superb intellect.

"When all else has been eliminated, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth."

I wonder what else he eliminated to make him believe that spiritualism was the truth?

Pete Andrews, Monday, 20 January 2003 16:49 (twenty-two years ago)

I know I'M not Sue Denim.
That's a start.

Zen Clown (Zen Clown), Monday, 20 January 2003 17:57 (twenty-two years ago)

The new Sean M. Hall (Piano Man), Monday, 20 January 2003 18:44 (twenty-two years ago)

See that?

Zen Clown (Zen Clown), Monday, 20 January 2003 22:06 (twenty-two years ago)

Yes. Sean, no html games here please.

Lynskey (Lynskey), Tuesday, 21 January 2003 02:04 (twenty-two years ago)

Yes. Email sent.

Lynskey (Lynskey), Tuesday, 21 January 2003 02:26 (twenty-two years ago)

No wonder you can't discover who Sue Denim is/was! You'll never be able to google up an answer if your spelling is all up the creek like that. I think you'll find there's a silent 'P' in it somewhere. Like in swimming.

C J (C J), Tuesday, 21 January 2003 09:21 (twenty-two years ago)

For the last time - we all spell badly because we are large on the ale. You try spelling correctly with six pints of absynthe in your belly.

Lynskey (Lynskey), Tuesday, 21 January 2003 15:02 (twenty-two years ago)

I've never been able to "google". By the time I enter 70 or 80 zeroes I lose count or forget what I wanted.

"p" as in swimming. Hmmm.

swim
sink
rock
moss
hatpin

Yes!! Now we're getting somewhere!

Zen Clown (Zen Clown), Tuesday, 21 January 2003 15:33 (twenty-two years ago)

Oy Vey! Always with the hatpins, Marty!

Lynskey (Lynskey), Tuesday, 21 January 2003 17:21 (twenty-two years ago)

Ah my dear Watson. You are overlooking the obvious!

Hatpin
Grebe
Feather
Plume
Nom de plume!

Zen Clown (Zen Clown), Tuesday, 21 January 2003 18:29 (twenty-two years ago)

ah, sue denim, that "thin red line running through the grey skein of life."

hurley (hurley), Wednesday, 22 January 2003 21:38 (twenty-two years ago)

Fuckin' limey bitch

Christopher (Matt), Thursday, 23 January 2003 11:40 (twenty-two years ago)

pseud, parler! de trop ou de tripe?

Gordon (Gordon), Thursday, 23 January 2003 12:48 (twenty-two years ago)

"Well! Warson, have you been paying attention?"
"That's Watson Sir."
"Erm, yes, Wortson, have you been paying attention to the thread?"
"Perhaps you should sit down sir."
"Ah, yes, now where was I?"
"You were standing over there weavi...
"No, no. What were we talking about?"
"The thread?"
"Oh, yes. The thread. The thread."
"Sue Denim"
"YES! Sue Denim! Well, we know about her now, don't we!"
"We do?"
"Of course we do you in-bred, bovine brained buffoon! It's obvious!"
"Those aren't very nice words, Mr...."
"Exactly! I can be as nasty as I like because you are a fictional character. You have no feelings. You don't exist!"
"I don't see the point of this."
"Weston, Weston, the answer was revealed on January 23rd at 1:40 AM."
"What about the hatpins."
"Simply a tactic, Watkins, a tactic. Now here...help me get them out my hat."
"Hatpins...hat...Matt. Mr. Holmes, you are a genius sir."
"I know, Wilson, that's why my name is on the covers."

Zen Clown (Zen Clown), Friday, 24 January 2003 05:39 (twenty-two years ago)

here's an "of". I think it fell off the last post.

Zen Clown (Zen Clown), Friday, 24 January 2003 05:43 (twenty-two years ago)

Way off base. Literally miles.

Matt (Matt), Friday, 24 January 2003 11:24 (twenty-two years ago)

"Well, Holmes. 'Looks like you've botched it."
"Patience, Winston, this is all part of my plan."

Zen Clown (Zen Clown), Friday, 24 January 2003 20:35 (twenty-two years ago)

Here is a Sue:

Talking of pseudonyms:

Vis: "Fuckin' limey bitch"
Have you noticed how nearly every thread has become a vehicle for attempting to stir British/American animosity, ever since a certain 'small fart' started posting here recently.

I have my suspicions about Sean.
Namely: That he's not an American at all.
That the nearest he's come to San Francisco is wanking over a poster of the Golden Gate bridge.
That he's one of these sad gits who has a confederate flag on his bedroom wall, and has a horn that plays 'Dixie' fitted to his moped.
He comes second-to-last in the Pont-y-pridd Western society's fast draw competition every year, and his lifelong ambition is to be mistaken for an American, by a real American, if only for a microsecond.
He also insists on showing a fake ID card that he bought off the internet when buying a tin of shandy in the local VG shop, and boasts at every opportunity about moving to the states as soon as his green card comes through.
(Although the call for unskilled sheep-shaggers in the USA is not high, I understand.)

Reginald N'Gambi Kerouvac, Monday, 27 January 2003 17:08 (twenty-two years ago)

Couldn't be, he's very knowledgeable about San Francisco history check out the boards and his websites

And Sue Donimus has an email address starting with fagkill... I doubt if it's a lady. Or maybe it's a lady like "Marge p. Huntington"

JS, Monday, 27 January 2003 17:58 (twenty-two years ago)

It's San Francisco if you please. (Please excuse my posting this but all San Franciscans hate being called that name. His email address is very insulting to me. See why at the FAQ of my board. Thanks, Sean)

The new Sean M. Hall (Piano Man), Monday, 27 January 2003 22:25 (twenty-two years ago)

Ahh San Francisco, glorious city of routers.

Jarlr'mai (jarlrmai), Tuesday, 28 January 2003 10:35 (twenty-two years ago)

Now why is 'JS' so concerned to defend the new Small Hane, huh???? And does anyone care that Sean is insulted? Haaaaaahahhahaha!

Guess what Sean. The world doesn't revolve around you or any poxy city on the west coast of America. If you're not up for the odd insult or several, then kindly piss off and make room for someone with a sense of humour.

PS Who the hell is Sue Donimus, and what's JS on about?
Fagkill?

Reginald N'Gambi Kerouvac, Tuesday, 28 January 2003 15:31 (twenty-two years ago)

Apologies and explanations necessary. The limey bitch comment was actually me, by way of a small homage when I once wound dear Sue up for the length of an entire thread on the old AAD (God rest it's soul) under the guise of Christopher, who was my pisstake of a couple of annoying American trolls we were getting at the time. I have no intention of stirring up any transatlantic animosity, everyone else seems perfectly capable of managing that by themselves(I would link to the thread but Greenspun appears to be down again, just by way of reminding us why we're here).

Matt (Matt), Tuesday, 28 January 2003 16:55 (twenty-two years ago)

The difference between Sue Denim and Sue Donimus is the difference between perfect pitch and a tin ear. Jsenlib has a tin ear.

Aimless, Tuesday, 28 January 2003 21:00 (twenty-two years ago)

http://www.greenspun.com/bboard/q-and-a-fetch-msg.tcl?msg_id=009QW6, there you go

Matt (Matt), Wednesday, 29 January 2003 11:28 (twenty-two years ago)

Or not, as the case may be.

Matt (Matt), Wednesday, 29 January 2003 11:28 (twenty-two years ago)

There's no "limey bitch" there. And she figured it out

I strongly suspect that our charming friend 'Christopher', is no more American than I am

I'd say that's smart.

JS, Wednesday, 29 January 2003 20:01 (twenty-two years ago)

"Well, Holmes, what about Sue Denim?"
"Fuckin' limey bitch."
"Pardon Sir?"
Holmes wanders off singing:
"Her hair was soft and cool,
her eyes were clear and bright
but she's not there..."

Zen Clown (Zen Clown), Thursday, 30 January 2003 06:39 (twenty-two years ago)

Ah, but she bit first. I win.

Matt (Matt), Thursday, 30 January 2003 18:32 (twenty-two years ago)

"Any fool may ask a question that no wise man can answer."

Pete Andrews, Monday, 3 February 2003 16:09 (twenty-two years ago)

What, like a rhetorical question?

Lynskey (Lynskey), Monday, 3 February 2003 16:44 (twenty-two years ago)

why do you ask?

Matt (Matt), Friday, 7 February 2003 01:23 (twenty-two years ago)

Do you like Tom Stoppard?

Lynskey (Lynskey), Friday, 7 February 2003 02:12 (twenty-two years ago)

The fellow who wears two hats?

Zen Clown (Zen Clown), Friday, 7 February 2003 04:45 (twenty-two years ago)

Haven’t we already discussed this?

Robin (RJM), Friday, 7 February 2003 08:44 (twenty-two years ago)

ever get the feeling history's repeating itself?

Matt (Matt), Friday, 7 February 2003 12:51 (twenty-two years ago)

No

Lynskey (Lynskey), Friday, 7 February 2003 13:08 (twenty-two years ago)

No

Robin (RJM), Friday, 7 February 2003 13:59 (twenty-two years ago)
