so is this thread not about eating booty?
― how to diss a peer completely (unregistered), Wednesday, 14 March 2018 15:23 (six years ago) link
man, eating booty seems to be such a generational thing, that would not even have occurred to me.
― Fedora Dostoyevsky (man alive), Wednesday, 14 March 2018 15:24 (six years ago) link
well I don't discriminate btwn millennial booty and gen x booty and gen y booty and boomer booty and greatest generation booty, but I have fewer sexual hangups then most people imho

I kind of wish I made gender/sexual orientation poll options, assuming this would be more common among men of all orientations than women but would be interesting to see the responses

― in conclusion, it is good to peel the sheeps (bizarro gazzara), Wednesday, 14 March 2018 15:37 (six years ago) link
there is certainly an immediate and somewhat unconscious "i find this person attractive" thing that happens ime
it might not amount to a "would/wouldn't" type of conscious question that i'm asking myself but it is there
― marcos, Wednesday, 14 March 2018 15:48 (six years ago) link
yeah thats a better rework of my post
― the clodding of the american mind (darraghmac), Wednesday, 14 March 2018 15:50 (six years ago) link
dang, I didn't really think that one through :-/
maybe you could break the options down further w/r/t "I play this game in the privacy of my headspace" vs "I play this game all the time with my buddies at the gym".
mentally sizing up people's attractiveness is harmless enough as long as it doesn't prompt toxic behavior toward people who meet/fail to meet your standards — though I suspect that the more you dwell on the (un)attractiveness of every casual acquaintance and the more invested you are in mentally rating every woman you meet on a 1-10 scale, the more likely you are to behave like a sexist POS in your day-to-day interactions
on the other hand, communal "I'd hit that" locker room talk is almost always creepy and toxic and I should hope that most people here are above that sort of thing
― how to diss a peer completely (unregistered), Wednesday, 14 March 2018 16:08 (six years ago) link
sometimes i have a hard time distinguishing whether my initial attraction is sexual or aesthetic, i.e. "i want to have sex with this person" vs "i really love how this person presents themselves and i want to be around them"
― marcos, Wednesday, 14 March 2018 16:09 (six years ago) link
I find the 1-10 scale more degrading than would/wouldn't, it sounds like you're judging a prize animal at a state fair. Or maybe it's just more fussy, idk, but I don't really find the distinctions between a "7" and a "9" meaningful -- at most there are 3-4 categories -- "would under no circumstances" "would under desperate/drunk circumstances" "would generally." Going beyond that just sounds like being some kind of connoisseur in a way that strikes me as detached from sex.
Most days I don't consciously play "would/wouldn't," but on certain horny days I do. I probably always do it a little bit, unconsciously.
― Fedora Dostoyevsky (man alive), Wednesday, 14 March 2018 16:29 (six years ago) link
i can't even get my head around the prospect of using a numeric scale it seems so absurd not to mention dehumanizing
― marcos, Wednesday, 14 March 2018 16:31 (six years ago) link

generally it is unconscious/subconscious but there are occasions when i keep a conversation going for long enough and we seem to get on well enough, and my unconscious/subconscious mind hasn't told me wld/wldnt i consciously think wld/wldnt then i start balancing out all the good and bad in her
it all happens fairly fast
not a 1-10 scale exactly, but a quick imaginary pros/cons list
i'm only into women tho (none of the other trans/lgbtqiapk/etc. stuff)
― F# A# (∞), Wednesday, 14 March 2018 16:50 (six years ago) link
"Yes, it's fun and what's the harm?" would be most accurate, but it's more like, "at some point I have weighed the pros and cons of having sex with any and everyone", and usually only once. This line of thought rarely, but sometimes, produces a "yes, sex with that person would be a good idea" result

that's a good addendum flan
― F# A# (∞), Wednesday, 14 March 2018 17:24 (six years ago) link
I've certainly done the related offshoot "Imagine what it would be like to have sex with literally any woman I know/meet regardless of attractiveness" but that was more of an adolescent thing.

for me it's "No, doesn't occur to me to do so/don't see what the appeal is." but with maybe a little of all the other options sprinkled in

Occasionally when I'm feeling crappy i'll walk down some random street and look at each person i pass (regardless of gender, age, etc.) and decide, being my most brutally honest, whether that person is less or more attractive than me and keep a mental tally. I'm always surprised to find the former group is usually much larger than the latter. Anyone else do this?

i don't do this. looking at the mind from the sort of david hume lense i would say that the attractiveness of a person is something i perceive as an impression, but i don't really make an idea out of that impression unless there's some reason to - i.e. person being a viable possible sexual/romantic partner
