Hi, Orbit.

This is a bit weird. I really didn't intend to use this board for anything except blowing off steam when I felt harrassed on ILX.

If you'd like to hang out here, that would be nice. I'm not even going to pretend this is a democracy or anything like that. The only rule I would have is this:

One may disagree with what a person says, or indeed what they do. :;edit - removed for clarification:: However, direspsect the *person* offering those opinion, and that will be deleted. If I delete a person enough times to notice their name, they get banned. This will be a nice place, and a polite place, and if I have to break a few heads to do it, sobeit.

If you have just come here to perpetuate some ongoing argument with Orbit or anyone else, I would kindly suggest that you go somewhere else. This is not the place for it.

No, quite honestly I thought perhaps I had been unfair to Orbit, and when I took exception with some of her comments I thought I could discuss it with her reasonably, face to face.

My plan didn't really work out very well. I have no intention of perpetuating it.

N.B. I took the rule you stated above at face value, but it seems that your guiding principle here is actually harmony, not free discourse. It's your board and thus your prerogative, but consider revising the rule to reflect that.

My guiding principle on this board is that people who have been the repeated victims of (deserved or undeserved) harrassment on other boards have a place where they may express their thoughts without more harrassment.

"Free" discourse was never on the menu on this board, because too many people take "free" to mean "continually insulting without fear of reprisal".

So I suppose it's ironic that so much of what I've ended up doing here is ranting and blowing off steam and anger management type stuff. The idea was to get that stuff out of my system in a place where it would not escalate and ruin other threads. (Because honestly, what was ruining the other threads was not just the 2 or 3 post spats, but the peanut gallery of commentators and rubber-neckers and 'me too'ers spiralling out of control.)

But it is just that. Blowing off steam. Not a place to perpetuate those arguments.

I think Laura was trying to be friendly, not perpetuate anything.
