Something of a misnomer, perhaps? A ballet slipper squeaks across hardwood, the frenzy of a Bacon or precise mania of a Kandinsky. You'd think some remant of cafe society might still linger in the furthest reaches of the city, crouched and whispering so as to avoid the stomp of the jackboot. But where is it? And is it accessible to us or clutched to an unwelcome foreign bosom?
