Say something nice about an ex

as an adjunct to the other thread, this is for balance in case our exes are reading.

mind you, i suppose we need to keep in mind that our current SO's might be reading too......

haha you actually did it! ok well my ex is a lovely, beautiful, utterly generous and fiercely intelligent person, with a conscience a mile wide, and an affectionate streak to match, and i hope she achieves genuinely great things in the world of anglo-german relations

I'm still friends with (or at least friendly-ish with) all my exes. Weird.

The make-ups stopped but before they did the make-up sex was pretty entertaining.

He shared my propensity for enjoying jokes past the point where they were funny, through to the point where they were retardedly absurd ... kinda like our relationship.

My most recent ex is still my best friend, and frankly he's the person who best understands me - for reasons I wont go into, I'd very possibly be dead if it wasn't for him as he helped me through a very bad patch after we broke up (even though he didnt have to).

(And I'm very lucky that my current is ok with me being friends with him! He's still freinds with one of his longest term ex gfs too - shes one of my best mates - so it all evens out... or something.)

The longer ago a relationship ended, the less tally I have of anything but nice things about the ex. Even my most recent ex was about 4-5 years ago now, and I remember we drove each other nuts, but I can't remember exactly how. I remember things I did that were annoying, untoward, or just plain wrong much more easily than I can remember the same about any ex. That's probably part knee-jerk guilt, part actual justified guilt, and part not giving a fig about their faults because I don't have to anymore.

Most of my exes were, in one way or another, much smarter than I am. I'd buy any of them lunch any day.

Even though I imagine with a couple of them, it would be like that uncomfortable seen in "Crumb" where he's having lunch with an ex, and she basically calls him a little shit the whole time while he laughs nervously.
