Are there explicit emotions regarding this ex, and are they negative?
---One wished to do that other harm. It's probable best to reexamine the situation as throughly as possible, and logically derive how one can excise this person's impact on your life in a clean manner - ie, figure out how this person is having an impact on you, and trivialize it out of existance. I'd also suggest doing violence against something scrappable, because their is a violence urge present and it might as well be met- no harm in it, and if it's met, you'll feel release.

---You are probable deeply alarmed by the fact that you can do harm, and as a result try to suppress violent urges aside from that, to the detrement of yourself. In this constant supression, you are proble causing yourself no end of stress, guilt, and such. These urges, these frustrations with the world around you, are a result of your human heritage and being grown and not made - your "world" is being challanged, and you desire to lash out - but you've been trained not to. This training is probable for the best, as it leads only to your personal nueral damage. Howver, I'd advise learning as much as you can about the world, so your "world" is as close as possible to reality.
