Just dropping in to say I saw Poolman and was delighted by it. It's a mess as a film but so lovable I was won over. The dialog at the beginning is so full of bizarre non-sequiturs it made me feel like I was stoned!

Working through the 30 or so films from the S&S top 250 of all time that I've not seen, like the little nerd that I am

L’ARGENT (Robert Bresson; 1983)
THE RIVER (Jean Renoir; 1951)
North by Northwest (Hitchcock, 1959)

I watched Chameleon Street on MUBI yesterday. What a brilliant, angry and witty film. It won Sundance in '89 but never got picked up for distribution - it was deemed "too white for black audiences and too black for white audiences" 🙄

A shame that the director never went on to make any more films.
