Voting Marie since (library re-pack notwithstanding) it is clearly one of those great, beefy, oversized MGM boxes with the flip-open front, def one of the very best of all VHS packaging designs.

with the thin plastic removable tray inside cradling the cassette? yeah, those are great

vhs equivalent of a gatefold, I guess

apparently they are known as "book boxes" and warner bros. did some too? the only ones we have are MGM/UA, but i love how they look on the shelf - united by the gray and the bands of color, but still each title gets its own poster font, and the front cover shows the poster nice and big. really makes the CBS/Fox "wall of charcoal gray with white italics" look pathetic.

"marie" is absolutely one of those - just been sliced, trimmed down, and its pieces inserted in a white clamshell (library or rental)

i also realized a lot of these are like #empowering woman plotlines which was not intentional but hey maybe ad i watch ill contemplate their 2016 remakes

Is State of Things good? It won the Golden Lion, and I think Deleuze points it out as important in his film-books iirc, but it's been kinda overshadowed by Paris Texas and Wings of Desire when talking 80's Wenders.
