Any sites on line that actually show halfway-decent shorts? I'm beginning to lose my faith in the existence of the watchable short film. No Atomfilm, plz.

well I still believe in the watchable short film (haha I better), but I don't really think the internet is a good place to look for them.

But it SHOULD be, damnit!

(but my feeling is that watching movies on the internet isn't such a great thing)

I...see. I suppose not. Good point.

Actually given the smallness (in conception and execution) of so many student films the Internet might seem the ideal method oftransmission.

I was going to say short film-makers should know their medium (i.e. the internet), but then realised that I wouldn't want to watch a movie made *specifically* for the internet. Hence the dearth of decent material.

Also I think sitting at a desk, eyes a couple feet from the screen, is a terrible physical position to watch movies in. Also, the window's going to be two inches x two inches, and the image is invariably choppy and pixellated, also bad.

But what about those rathergood kitties?

amateurist (amateurist), Monday, 19 May 2003 16:23 (twenty-two years ago)

You mean those flash music videos with kittens in them?

The Future of Cinema

or "pure cinema" finally realized

Just wait until part II of Film Comment's Chris Marker interview where he sings the virtues of rathergood's Destiny's Child spoof.

Amateurist, that really doesn't sound like you.

Hm, I suppose it was a late evening at work.
