The Philadelphia Story Hepburn and Stewart drunk by the swimming pool, when you think maybe they're going to fall in love but they don't
Forbidden Games The opening scene, after the German plane has flown through and strafed everyone and the little girl is tugging on her mother's hand to get up but her mother's dead
Ruby in Paradise The scene where Ruby goes into a strip club and watches the girls dancing and they look at her and she looks at them and then she walks back out to her car
The Elephant Man The circus freaks escaping from the circus by lantern and moonlight
Raiders of the Lost Ark Karen Allen drinking the big fella under the table in her Himalayan bar. I had such a crush on Karen Allen after this movie.
Breakfast at Tiffany's The climactic scene in the rain with the cat. Makes me tear up every time.
My Twentieth Century The amazing lightbulb dance near the beginning.
Casablanca When Bergman comes back to the bar after hours and Bogart's there, drunk, at the piano, with the lights out.
Diner Kevin Bacon watching the college bowl quiz show and shouting out all the answers.
The Wizard of Oz The first encounter with the Tin Woodman, when Dorothy and the Scarecrow hear this ominous squeaking in the woods and then find him there frozen solid. That whole idea of being frozen but still conscious completely freaked me out as a kid. Then I read an article last year in The New Yorker about people who that actually happens to, and I got freaked out all over again.

Is it possible to avoid having a crush on Karen Allen, ever?
but that's the only bad scene in the movie!

Lolita: The opening scene of the Kubrick one, where Humbert Humbert shoots Quilty.
Chimes at Midnight: Prince Hal banishes Falstaff. Utterly shattering.
Apocalypse Now: The first five minutes. The only time I've ever liked the Doors.
Where the Buffalo Roam: The ending monologue: "It never got weird enough for me..."
The Apartment: Best unlikely happy ending evah. "Shut up and deal!"
La Jetee: The whole thing!
Day of Wrath: The scene where the old woman is put to death is as horrific as anything I can remember in film, not because of anything that's shown: the build-up to the moment is agonizing, and then it's over so quickly.
Singin' in the Rain: The title song, of course. Happiest film moment evah?
Invasion of the Body Snatchers: The original ending of the original film, before they tacked on an unnecessary epilogue: "They're here!"

anniversary party - the toasts, esp. girls guitar club and k kline's dance with his daughter
monsoon wedding - singing of 'mendhi'
silence of the lambs - night vision goggle scene
buffalo 66 - dinner @ parents, lying on hotel bed together
fargo - lunch with mike yanagita
blade runner - shooting the stripper as she crashes thru windows
princess bride - iocaine powder
sling blade - talk w/ frank which (i think) includes telling him about 'little feller' and asking to put his arm around him
the way i remember the ending of body snatchers is someone seeing the friend whom they thought was still ok, and having them do that pointy shrieky freaky thing. is that right? / what you're talking abt??

Manhattan: The montage with Issac and Mary walking through Manhattan at night while "Someone To Watch Over Me" plays...
Apocalypse Now: Killgore. All of it....
Royal Tennenbaums: Margot gets off the bus....
Monty Python + Holy Grail: "Old woman!" "Man!" "Man; sorry...."
Empire Strikes Back: "Luke... I am your father."
Searching for Bobby Fischer: "Take the draw." (The ultimate asshole-cocksucker line as delivered by a 10 year old. Give up.)
8 1/2: The end sequence.
When We Were Kings: When Ali is jogging in the African sunrise.
Fantasia: Night On Bald Mountain.
