(I actually use regular 8mm) - but that's the great thing about it. Anything I shoot right now automatically looks old school.

three months pass...
What's the best way to light for super 8? I was always told it is better to overexpose and go one stop higher than with other formats.

I don't know about that, but my personal preference with all film stock in general is to take it down a stop and underexpose. I got some very good results with this recently with 35mm stills.

Wish I could tell you about Super8, but I still haven't seen the footage we shot last month for the Grand Buffet music video, since it's still at the lab waiting to be telecined.

Overexposure will minimize grain and deepen shadows, at the cost of highlights blowing out. I assume grain is the reason that's recommended for 8mm.

(FWIW, with still film, I overexpose everything by one or two stops if possible, when highlights aren't going to blow way-the-hell-out.)
