So... who was the old woman in the red coat?

obviously, I know she was the woman who overheard Julie Christie talking to the blind psychic. but still, what was her motivation?

wasn't she a killer dwarf responsible for the murders? I haven't seen this in a while so what do I know. though.

I believe she was the one responsible for all the murders, but as for her actual significance in the film, she's nothing more than a MacGuffin. It's not really important who she is and why she kills the Donald Sutherland character, what's important is that his psychic connection to death has been pointing towards the murder all along.
