What can ILF tell me about this festival, in terms of spirit, prestige, etc.? Just curious...

Well, since it's not such a well-known festival, the "prestige" of the winning is not too high. But I have seen some of the films from past festivals, and well, it's like any festival; some entries suck, some are fantastic.

Basically, I'll put it like this: Slamdance is to Sundance what Solaris is to 2001.

I'd say Slamdance is to Sundance what Soderbergh is to Tarkovsky, if you must be scientifically accurate.

I'd say it's pretty well-known--remember there are MILLIONS of film festivals out there, and Slamdance is definitely better-known than 99% of the rest of them.
