Canada well represented! Any thoughts?

Ha! Just last week there was a piece in the New York Times detailing how film production in Chicago has dwindled to almost nothing, and our major sound stage has been vacant for over a year.

Oops. I just updated the link. That was last year's list! My apologies.

Amateurist, what about independent production in Chicago? I was looking at moving there for a while, and it seemed there were a decent number of prod companies and an interesting-looking co-op style organisation - the name escapes me, but I'm sure you know it well.

Upset that they left SF/Oakland off the list, but I understand their reasons...

I don't know it well because I haven't had any money to spend on film production since I moved back here. Chicago Filmmakers is well-known; they work in 16mm I believe. But classes and rentals are not particularly cheap.

Chicago Filmmakers

That's the one. I looked at Columbia's programme too because my girlfriend almost went to Northwestern but... pffffff hella $$$!

move, and make indie movies

It's still cheap, Nairn, just not as totally insanely cheap as it used to be. Good deals on lodging still to be found--though getting rarer and rarer.
