My thoughts are a bit of a mess, but go like this:

I liked Suture, but have a feeling it might not be as great as I remember it.

Felt like they had a kind of unique approach and possibly huge potential, at leat within a very specific sphere of "art" cinema?

Blew it with The Deep End.

They have some great ideas, their work is just a little too self-conscious. I'd really like to see them take one of their wild conceits and just run with it, instead of trying to make it work in any kind of conventional sense. They are certainly worth keeping an eye on, though. I look forward to seeing what they come up with in the future.

suture as a concept is interesting, & they execute it w skill + flair for first-timers but idk it leaves me p cold

i can see exactly y soderbergh liked it tho, good anecdote of him attending a rough cut, asking for a mtg w them the following day but saying nothing else, & then showing up & saying he had talked w his accountant abt mortgaging his house so he could fund the finishing costs

lots of other good tidbits on the arrow commentary also.. these guys said they are friendly w malick a bit

'the friend' is good, maybe hard to recommend as it is a little too real w/r/t loss and aging
